Being Present..

Writer: Vendula KalinovaVendula Kalinova

How can we achieve the state of mindfulness in the world full of distractions?

We are so distracted by "being busy" in our everyday lives that we often lose awareness of our energy being scattered, thus attracting more chaos our way. Our inner world becomes disconnected from the true meaning of our existence as we reach for outward stimuli, and slowly allow our spirit to fade through the many shades of a distraction. Whether this is to fill a void or compensate for our experiences of pain, trauma, or hardship - our minds get lost in the perpetual multitask while our bodies run on auto-pilot, chasing the dreams of elusion.

Mindfulness..

While the white noise of our modern existence has produced the society of an externally driven world, we have adapted to ruminating about our past, being distracted in our present, or romanticizing the future away.

Engaging in physical activities such as rest, sleep, relaxation, meditation, joyful activities, or spending time with loved ones is certainly valuable and of merit. Consequently, we can practice being mindful by lessening the white noise around us by looking within instead. When we take time to pay attention deliberately to the present moment, a level of grace enters our experience. Whatever we may be observing, or participating in - it is important to apply the understanding that we "get to" experience this moment (as opposed to "having to" do so). When we engage meaningfully, we can direct our focus in a singular direction of "here and now". We can start to replace the chase, the distractions, and the multitasking with a time of self-care, acceptance, and appreciation. We replenish our soul with what feels good when we align with our well-being and become truly present while doing so.

To arrive intentionally in the state of being conscious we must first cultivate awareness. Nevertheless; before mindfulness can take place, we need to create an optimal environment for us to do so. When we are taking actions from the place of least resistance, we can develop acute sense of observation. This is because there is no resistance to block the energy we exchange between ourselves and the given object, event, or person, and we can perceive with clarity. Engaging with the world around us entirely grants us the opportunity to mirror this internally, and therefore truly begin to pay attention to how we shape our perception. Through my own time of practice, I have discovered that reaching for what feels good, positive energy, and ease are the pivotal variables of an unspoken equation. Ease is the very map to mindfulness. The path that centers the equilibrium of our own energy, regulates the sensory intake and therefore allows for adaptation.

When in place of effortlessness we can perceive with calmness, and allow for our perception to gain speed in the direction of acceptance. It is the delicate, and fine thread that connects the joy to the present moment.

When we allow ourselves to truly accept and pause, we can breathe in the essence of our experience. Self-love includes kindness to ourselves. We may begin with the tribute, setting aside each day an intentional pocket of time for the practice of well-being. To honor our self-value we must learn on occasion (and include in our regime) to give ourselves the permission to simply do nothing.. Nothing but become the observer of each moment for we can awake our senses - with acceptance and without judgment.

Doing things that we enjoy, surrounding ourselves with those who elevate us, and choosing thoughts that feel good allow for momentum of ease to take place, and therefore a natural flow of energy. It is when our mind is truly lucid, and the energy flows freely that we can truly enjoy the moment, the company, the activity, or the circumstance we are a part of. We feel grounded, balanced, and centered. This is when our mind is at peace, and our heart is coherent. This is when our aura beams with colors, our light shines the brightest, and our inner world is seamlessly connected to the without and those around us.

Allow..

Allow yourself to pause in time, bask in appreciation, and enjoy the moment. When we grant ourselves the opportunity to be present in the moment we can witness life in all its richness. It is when no distraction pulls us into the past or future, that we can experience stillness, peace, and Universal love.

To feel the impelling force of a desire,

to foster a connection of purpose and the flow of energy,

with clarity and that of spiritual level - we must cultivate the awareness of "Here and Now".
